I'm an experienced software developer and application architect with proven experience in delivering maintainable applications, navigating ambiguity, and delivering software solutions that people depend on.
While I believe theoretical foundation is important, I value a pragmatic and practical approach more. My philosophy on software develop centers around the following tenets.
- Experiments drive experience. It's cheaper to write throw-away code to verify assumptions, work out ergonomics, and accumulate learnings, than going for the gold.
- Promote knowledge. Share what you know, weekly. Stay aligned and share a common sense of what looks good to us.
- Domain trumps technical knowledge. While technical expertise is essential, without domain knowledge you'll expertly build the wrong thing.
- Simple over clever. Clever solutions tend to be hard to understand down the line. I strive for the simple, yet not the simplistic.
- Documentation over self-documenting. While self-documenting code is an ideal to strive for, documentation is required to capture context and underlying reasoning.
